I wanted to attend the Catholic church here in Fox Lake today, but when another teacher and I drove up to the church, no one was around and the padlock was still on the front door. We drove back to her house and I was going to walk home when she invited me in for tea.
I came to Fox Lake to teach because I really felt like this is where the Lord was calling me to be. After today's time with my friend, I am absolutely sure.
she prepared a light brunch for us and the more we talked, the more we realized we had in common. We are both Pentecostal Christians. We practice the gifts of the spirit and we both felt lead here...to Fox Lake...by God. She has been here for a while and was beginning to feel spiritually tired. She began praying for someone to come to town that she could agree with in prayer. I had been praying, with others, that God would prepare for myself people who I could fellowship with in Fox Lake. We are both answers to each others prayers.
We read some scripture together and prayed. As I left, we agreed that we should do this more than just once a week. maybe some others will join us in time!
I spent the rest of Sunday doing some intense planning and rearranging my classroom, and cleaning my classroom.....it will take a while I think. I got home at 7pm and listened to the entire book of Stuart Little on Cassette and then went to bed. Oh, and now I have heat in the basement for the first time since I 've been out here....I don't know why...but I am happy!
I have my lessons planed and prepped for the week. My classroom is superb. My home is settled in. I have friends. I have a prayer buddy. I am very happy to be here in Fox Lake and I miss you all too! I can't even count my blessings...there are so many!
